ISABEL MARANT FW11

Love this. Young, sexy and light. Really wearable as well. She’s going to have trouble keeping those fringed boots in stock come this Fall.

Haider Ackermann FW11

When Karl Lagerfeld says he’d want this guy to succeed him at Chanel, you know he is doing something right.

For the past 3 seasons Haider Ackermann has been putting on stunning shows with clothing that is not only aspirational & inspirational, but clothes that do not need to live only on the runway but could possibly be worn in reality should you be lucky enough to be able to afford them.

Truly astonishing…

FUCHSIA FUCHSIA FUCHSIA!!!

Happy Saturday!

With all the F/W11 Pre-Fall reviews in tow, I managed to extract a color trend that I thought was prevalent. Even though the color fuchsia was not applied into many pieces, it was still a key POP color in a lot of collections.

I’m really NOT a fan of pink. I find it really hard to wear and that it does not look good on everyone. But fuchsia is that rare pink hue that looks good on almost everyone from the palest to the darkest and is almost certain to turn heads when you walk into a room wearing it. Hopefully wearing it well which is a challenge. It can look kooky, hokey, dated and too loud.

So here it is. Fuchsia in all its F/W11 splendor.

A transitional color perhaps?

HOLY VIONNET!

WoW…

I still have tons of pre-fall collections to post and just looking at Vionnet which just recently showed in Paris and I seriously just am in love with this. The fringe, the fur, the sheer, the short, the sexy. It’s very Jerry Hall-esque. Every piece is drool worthy.

F/W11 PRE-FALL – CONTINUED

Its a Snow Day and I am on a posting rampage.

I’ve been out of town and bla bla bla.

Anywho, there’s been more shows going on including the mens F/W11 collections which i still haven’t taken a look at aside from the Givenchy show.

Here are more of my F/W11 pre fall picks.

If you have a snow day as well hope you’re vegging out like I am.

enjoy!

1.  3.1 Phillip Lim

Love the braided knits and the grey tones with the pop of orange. It is a clean modern collection with a hint of nostalgia. These are pieces that can grow along with you and be pert of your wardrobe for a long time.

2. Alexander Wang

Still the darling prince of  the so called “downtown chic”, Alexander Wang shows some signs of maturing as a designer with an expansion in color albeit being ochre….but alas, it is a refreshing take on a line that to me was too much grunge too much.

3. Chloé

Chloé needs some lift. The earth tones it has been known for for the past couple of seasons have become quite expected therefore the pop of yellow brings an unexpected life to the line. I just wish they had inserted another pop somewhere else. Maybe that fuchsia that I have been seeing so much of…(post to come later).

4.  Giambattista Valli

I’ve been really partial to this house as of late. I really don’t know what it is. Maybe the fact that one of these coats and you are set for life? Just a thought.

5. Givenchy

I just posted the men’s Givenchy collection and now the women’s. I really like the heavy layering and the earthen tones. What really strikes me is the pop of purple which you can see throughout the line. Tisci has an affinity for the sheer and he shows it not only in this collection but in his couture presentation. Also, long skirts, feathers & fur. I also am quite taken with his high/low layering, meaning army jacket on top of a floor length gown. I love that juxtaposition and he knows how to make it work without making you look like a bum.

6. United Bamboo

This is very young, little flowers, mini dresses, comfy unkempt style. That is probably why they hired Naomi to model it.

7. Viktor & Rolf

Everything about this is great. So cohesive, so special. Each piece is pretty much a show stopper but extremely wearable and I love the red pop that flows through the entire line. Look #4 is my favorite…(grey/black) duh.

8. Valentino

Like I always say…Valentino is always one of my favorites. And for a girl who prefers tomboy over femme…

GIVENCHY MAN FW11

I wanted to continue on with the Couture posts with the Givenchy show, but even though Givenchy’s Couture show was great, it resembled last season a little too much for my taste. The back details etc are remarkable but I chose to focus more on his FW11 Men’s show.

It is a very playful approach to menswear without it becoming hokey and unwearable. I love the sweaters with the dog images. Fucking rad. I also love that he gave us females some love. Personally, I am attracted to mens clothing way more than women’s as I feel like most women’s designers cater to the uber femme rather than the tomboy(there is a balance, i know…).

This is an excellent collection that embodies rich fabrics and color with styling that is on point. This is totally wearable day to day stuff too.

(*if you can afford any of it)

;)

Enjoy!
